today is the first time i experience such a terrible accident that happened in my class, in front of my eyes! it was nerve-wrecking and scarrryyy.

there's this little boy who is forever running around the class despite my constant reminders! and the next thing i know, he fell down and hit his head on the chair by the side. omg. its a child-safety chair with no sharp edges! but he had a cut on his upper eye lid, less than 1cm away from his eyeballs!!!!! and it was bleeding super badly that i screamed when i saw it! the blood dripped down even faster than his tears. it streamed down his face onto his clothes and my clothes! gosh. i couldnt even bear to see the wound. i quickly took a tissue and added pressure before slowly looking at the wound. it swelled... and den i suddenly forgot everything i have learnt from first aid.

next thing i know, i was on the way to the clinic to get his wound dressed. my heart still pounded furiously. but he was really brave! he stopped crying a while later and enjoyed sucking on my mentos! we went to the children clinic and the doctor just took some cotton bud, clean a bit and recommend him to a doctor in the hospital for stitches and charged 70 bucks for that! so so so expensive!

but luckily he went down to the hospital for the stitches treatment. the doctor said that his eye muscles are exposed! and need to stitch it back quickly. the cut was quite big. and the skin came out. thank goodness his skin was pushed upwards and he needed to pull the skin down and stitch it back. lucky the skin was still there. or else he would need to do skin grafting!!! gosh. that would hopefully teach him not to run around in the class!

): it was really a scary accident that i have learnt how to deal with. i do hope he recovers soon!

((: today's the prelim round for SYYC (Singapore Yoyo Championship). and, i hope that he will make it to the finals! ((: Good luck! hugs!

yesterday i brought my little kids on a field trip to the zoo! weees. its the first time i went to the zoo with my children and it was a fun experience. even though it was tiring, but it was worth it. everyone enjoyed themselves and the best part of it was that, no mishap happened! ((: cheers and good job to all the teachers! for my class, i was proud of my kids that they were able to walk through the whole trip without much complaining. and considering the fact that they were walking from around 10am to around 2.30pm? haha. but too bad i didn't manage to take much photos with my camera because it was low battery!!! even though i made sure that i fully charged my battery the night before... sighhhs. i learn my lesson to bring an extra battery next time round. =/

and im looking forward to the coming weekend. (:
enjoy your weekends everyone!

recently i have done some interesting art pieces in my Creative Arts Module. i remember doing a creative art module back then in poly. even though both modules has the same names, it is totally different. nearly 180 degrees different. the one in new media teaches us how to think out of the box and do unconventional things. however, the one in early childhood teaches us to use specific art techniques to encourage children to do and learn. we are given like guidelines and stuff to follow and do while the one in poly had no guidelines at all. haha.
but i must say after all the time spend in doing art pieces for the module, i have some pretty nice art pieces done by my team that i'm really proud of. (:

My cosy princess house! We were supposed to make a home out of a shoe box given limited materials like scotch-tape, paint, glue, scissors and magazine. and straight away i wanted to create a pink pink princessy house! haha.

and this is made of magazine paper teared into tiny pieces and sticked onto an A3 drawing board. we nearly teared and glued the pieces till we went cross-eye. lol. but it was fun to see our final creation of the beautiful butterfly soaring in the sky.

***

recently, i have been very tired at work. i think that im nearly stretched to my potential. =/ just on friday, i had nearly all the bad possible cases in a day. first a scratching case that has blood involved, next a biting case that has teeth mark and blue black, next a child that has fever so we needed to let her rest and stuff, next i had a new child in my class who does not follow class routine and stuff. tell me about being stressed. especially when i need to call up so many parents. roar. ): sometimes i feel that me and my co-teacher cannot really cope.. but what else can we say? everytime we ask for extra help, you say you will help us. but did it really happen before? did you really provide us with the help we need? =/

***

Anyway on the brighter side, i went wakeboarding with maggie today!!! ((: i think this is the first time we book and ride together after we have said we want to ride together like ages!!! haha. it was good! and lucky her going to get a new board. (: so she was trying out boards. but i think she is suited to use a much faster board than mine. because she kept asking paul to speed up. haha. but still it was good to have company to ride together. (:

finally, everything is over. a wave of calmness swept over me. (: my brave boy made it through strongly. now, he is just on the road of recovery where he will regain strengths to become stronger and fitter. ((:

on the first day of the IT show, i went down to take a look and shop for some stuff. well, i must say that this is the 1st time i see so much crowd on the 1st day of the fair. lol. are you sure singapore is undergoing recession with the amount of people buying stuff from the fair? lol. going down to the IT fair really brings back lots of memories from those days where i used to be able to work there part time, being part of the many many stores selling their stuff and getting people to purchase. haha. somehow i would want to be able to experience that again. plus, it gives us good money right? so why not. =X haha. well, after walking around and around, i got a laser printer at a good deal for my mum's birthday! haha. she always wanted one. thank goodness i had a sweet soul to drag it back for me. or else, i dont think i would have get it either.

anyways, weekend is over. and its back to reality to work hard and study hard!
=/ coming up i have 1 exam, 2 presentations and 2 assignments to be submitted.
on top of the portfoilos to be given back to the children and lesson planning for term2.

i guess, i need some life. lol.
enjoy the last 2 hours of the weekends!

i really envy all those who can go overseas to relax and enjoy. and hopefully they can pack me in their suitcase right val? hehhes. to my best friend who is leaving yet again for aust! you lucky girl. i miss you so much.

anyways, back to reality, here are some pics of my children @ work.

this is them at an attempt of mud-making. haha. messy as it seems but i guess most of them enjoyed it! ((:

look at how my 2 and a half year old boy during his counting. yeah, he could count all of it correctly. wow.

and this is a walk in our 'man-made' rain. they enjoyed playing in the rain and learning about raincoats and umbrella. haha.

they really make my day! ((:

Meet my new class, Nursery 1 2009. (:
and i'm starting to love my new class as i will continue to be with them to see them grow for the whole of year 2009. this photos were taken on the day we went for the field trip to Marina Barrage.

A pretty sweet and nice place with good views over looking the singapore flyer and the CBD area. apart from that, there are plenty of pretty spots for pleasant photo taking! haha. plus its a good place for a little picnic like what we have with the children! we ordered mac and all teachers and children had that for lunch. haha.

and the picture above is one of my favourite picture out of all i have taken. the picture just tells how the little children feel. (: seeing it just makes me happy too. (:
***
today was a fun day too! i went out enjoying with jen at Wildwild Wet! well thankfully the weather was not that hot and sunny and it was not rainy. we practically made full use of our money by riding all the rides there and even went to the foam pit to soap our self among the crowd! haha. (just like zouk-out in simple form) we even had our cheap thrills by playing at the children's playground too. but i guess best was the massage pool it was the most relaxing part of the day where we just sit there under the cloudy sunshine chit chatting and letting the strong current of the water to massage our backs, knees, tummy and legs. lol. that was indeed some what heaven, thou spa would surely be better i guess. haha. better den nothing thou.
and i guess it was the company that made it fun too! hehes. ((:

): no more N1 2008. from the 1st of decemeber, i will be in the Pre-nursery class to take on the new N1 for 2009. well, yesterday was my last day with the kids and it was rather an emotional day... for i have to let go my kids under the care of my co-teacher and their new strict form teacher. haha. it will do them some good to have stricter disipline. heehee. but at the same time it means that i can no longer be with them and observe their every movement and every gesture. no more the common routinues i do with them like packing their bags, washing their things and all that... and it will be a new batch of children to be familiar with.

as much as i look forward to take on a class of my own, im also afraid of what lies ahead the challenges to communicate with the difficult parents and ways and method to handle all the other difficult kids in the class as well... but with determination, i must strive to do it well after all they will be my new babies. (: and on the other hand, learn how to let go my current batch of students at least i know i will still be seeing them around everyday. ((:

Mulberry Learning Centre - Year End Concert 2008
Theme: Faces of The World
Location: Chervons Theatrette
Date: 8th November 2008
Outcome: Successful. ((:

concert entrance tickets. designed by: yours truly. (:

Weeee, I'm so happy and relieved that our concert has finally come to an end. And whats best is that it ended nicely and all teachers, parents and children enjoyed ourselves during the concert and thats the best outcome we could possibly wish for. (:

No doubt there were minor chaos backstage, like last minute we forgot to bring the marking to mark the floor on the stage for the children to see; having children vomitting; having children urine on their costumes and stuff. But at the end of the day, what happened backstage remained backstage and the show on the front stage was perfect. Everything happened like how it should and things when smoothly without any major difficulty.

As a teacher of N1'2008 class i'm proud to see my kids out there on stage performing, dancing the steps we have rehearsed ample times in school. It seems that all the shouting, screaming, vigrous dancing of steps to train the kids and all the rewards and stuff were worth it. (: the children had fun dancing and i hope the parents enjoyed watching their little ones on stage performing the Hawaiian dance and Mongolian dance.

Backstage pictures:

Teachers that made all these possible!

The flowers given by a parent for all our hard work. And ends my day sweetly. (: (plus its a pink rose!)

- Wednesday, November 05, 2008 -

Finally last sunday, my beloved wakeboard met Bedok. For the first time since Kallang closed, i finally manage to bring my board over to bedok to ride. thanks to my dearest boy who was sweet enough to carry it all the way there for me. hehes. and i really must conclude that: "I CAN PERFORM LIKE 5 TIMES BETTER WITH MY OWN BOARD!" ((: even thou i haven been riding for like 4 months with my own board, once i wore it, all my jumps came back to me. and the feeling was super super good compared to riding with the house boards. firstly, house boards bindings are sooo huge that any hard fall my bindings fall off. secondly its big and heavy for my size and height thus harder to bring the board off the water for big jumps. thirdly, its harder to control the board cause its bigger. hmmmm, so as to not waste money, i should bring my own board to ride or else, what's the point of riding if i cannot perform? lol. i love my board superduper much. ((:
ohhh, for the first time in my life, i landed a one-wake 180degrees switch.
and it was an awesome feeling!

apart from that, i celebrated Halloween for the first time in my life last Friday. And i promise, i will update more about Halloween with photos the next time im free. LOL. its like, so much to share! haha. ((: but one thing i can say is that, i enjoyed my little Halloween party with the kiddies. ((:

Now, im super stressed about my up-coming year end concert this Saturday. lots of stuff to prepare for the concert from the props, invitations, children costume, dance moves, music, make-up and stuff. been busy working on this since the past one month and it all boils down to that mere few minutes on the stage. so i really hope and pray that everything goes smoothly on that day and i will update more about this! haha.

gonna go and prepare more concert stuff!
Loves. (:

recently i've been rather hooked to online shopping. looking at all the pretty sites to pass time. not that i have alot of time on hand, but it just makes me feel relax and take away my stress for the moment. haha. well, but still i have yet to see anything online that really tell me to 'buy it'. lol.

other than that, there's alot coming in my calendar to work on. such as class deco for term 4 to be completed; school's concert to prepare the kids for; teachers' performance to prepare; halloween celebration; hari raya and deepavail celebration all to be happening within this month! so much to do yet so little time.

as time passes, i still cannot imagine that i've been working there for close to 3 months already. and dreaded for my night classes to start next month where i gotta upgrade my skills and learn pre-school education - teaching. its going to be one and a half year of night classes, weekends burnt and work all at the same time. haha. well, i hope it will be fun and i'll get to meet tons of friends. (:

***

on brighter note, im sooo hooked on season 2: gossip girl.
its super awesome. all the handsome hunks and pretty babes. gosh, its even better than season one to me. haha. and its tons better than the book itself. (:

and how the show always end with:
you know you love me; xoxo. gossip girl.

happy teachers' day to all the teachers around.

and today is a very very special day for all the teachers in the world! haha. being a teacher, i know how hard it is to be a good one.
a mediocre teacher tells,
a good teacher explains,
a superior teacher demonstrates,
a great teacher inspire.
and i am working towards being a great teacher to inspire my children. ((:

and today is a special day that really clears my doubt and clearly reminds me of the reason why i am working here and why am i doing this job. and it reminds me of what i really want to do in life. i want to continue to pursue my education in this industry and work hard to achieve a name for myself. haha. and it is a day where i really feel so touched to be a teacher. even though i was only there for around 2 months, i was able to see the impact i left in the children that they remembered me on this special day to give me token of appreciations. soo super sweet of them... even some children from the other classes remembered me and pass me little presents. awwws.. such a heart melting and touching day filled with loves. (:

my dearest Nursey 1 class

my tokens of appreciation from parents, teachers and children. my ultimate motivation.

even though this is my first ever teachers' day, it will surely not be the last. but just the beginning of a long journey ahead for me. im determined to do better and achieve more.

To study hard, work hard and strive for the best in this industry will be my birthday resolution! (:

To add on to my motivation, Mulberry Learning Centre, awarded me with a trophy for being a NEWCOMER TEACHER. ((: weees.

lastly, i want to thank my love ones and friends for supporting me in making this decision to step into this industry and start working as a childcare teacher. since then, i have never once regretted and will continue to be a better teacher shirley. every mistake i have made will only make me better as it is a valuable lesson learnt. and im glad to be in Mulberry Learning Centre for they really welcome me into their family and work together with me. (:

and the hand food mouth disease (HFMD) is here once again. ): now im soooo senstive to the words "spots", "ulcers", "blisters" and "fever". with this here, i have to wash my hands at least 50 times a day, sterilize my hands once practically after i touch anything which is like 10 mins once. and sterilize everything and anything the children touch, play, or even sit on. which is like everything. the sterilizer becomes my best friend. lol. and hygiene become our tip top priority. anything and everything, cleanliness comes first. ((: but still, i hate to see the children suffer.. please please, all get well.

i need to get well too. i need my voice to teach, sing and communicate with the children. i need to stop my flu and cough... its been daysssss. i really hope i get well soon. and i hope everyone will stay strong and healthy because ultimately, health is the most important asset anyone can have.

it gets sad when my friends ask me, what do i do on weekends and all i got to say is rest at home and eat medicine. but thats what i have been doing for my past weekends. i really hope to get well, go out and go on a really romantic and sweet date. (:

and, since last sat, i miss you.
hope to have you by my side.

sorrry for the lack of updates for a longggg time. x)

been pretty much busy at school with more responsiblities as the days go by. now every week i have to submit lesson plans for my class's reading program. on top of that, at the end of each lesson, we have to do a evaluation report based on our teaching and the kids learning that day. doesnt it remind you so much about RJ (reflection journals)?

and how time flies, i have already been working there for a month! and through this month, sadly, i fell sick twice. one was just few days back. and it started cause i was shouting too much during assembly to teach the little ones the national day cheer. ): in the past i could make it through a year maybe only falling sick once. however now, i fall sick twice in a month! )): but through the month, i also pick up alot of teaching skills from the teachers on how to conduct lessons and how to control the little kids in class. but im not that good at it yet, so theres still much for me to learn!

happy 43rd birthday singapore.
yesterday was national day and it was a quiet celebration this year. looking around my district, besides the banners that sway in the wind from the lampost by the road and the rare few flags that flew from the balcony of hdb flats, there were nothing else. it was a quiet celebration. unlike other years whereby every household will hang there flag out to their balcony and everywhere you go, you see the bright red and white flag.

for me, i spent the day merely resting at home and watching taiwan dramas and drafting lesson plans for the week. haha. so boring. but im looking forward to the day my love gets back from field camp! haha.

and im waiting for my sexy-sore-throatish voice to go away!

hugs. <3

The sick bug has been flying around lately. last thursday when i fell sick, the next day another teacher went on leave. following that, on monday, i come to hear that 2 teachers fell sick and many many many kids were sick. :/ and thats not very nice to hear.

there's one case on monday that the delivery man came to deliver a huge 3kg minnie mouse cake. supposedly to celebrate a little girl's birthday. but sadly, she's sick to attend school on her birthday. only the cake came and we cut it to serve to the kids without her around. ):
i hate to see my kids falling sick. what more, sick on her own birthday.

sick bug fly away, i dont want to see you another day.

it breaks my heart to see you suffering so much.
do take care, cause i care.
and you never know that a phone call can mean so much to me - brightens up my day to know you are okay.

Week one of work is over. (: on the whole, it has been a fun and fulfilling week. i've finally get used to their timetable and the names and characteristics of all the kids in my class.

and i really look forward to this weekend to relax and take my mind of the kids for a while. haha. sometimes work gets really tiring especially when you cannot take your eyes off them even for a second or else, you will hear tons of shrieks, screams and cries. lol.

soon after, more work starts to pile in as im going to be taking hold of the nursery 1 reading program and their creative art program. so i need to start planning creative and fun lessons for the young ones soon. ((: well, thats kinda exciting for me. haha. but still, there are so much more for me to learn. i need to know how their lesson plan goes and the school's curriculum. plus, after one of the teacher leaves, i have to be in charge of assembly programs for one of the day in the week. lol. thats going to be fun as i have to learn to control all the kids in the center not just those in my class and get them interested in stories, songs or games before flag raising. well, i'll just take it as time comes. (:

heres some cute pictures of the kids in my class.

Meet Briant, the cute little baby of the class. haha. and he love his milk!

isnt he cute? he is one of the few malay boys in my class. or rather, the only one. haha. and he is one really wellbehaved one. (:

Taken during their outdoor play session where they have plenty of cute little cars and bikes.

shanon here is one of my favourite! its hard not to see why. hehes. cuz she is soooo cute!

and ashley here who is very cute too. hehe. i love tying her hair! lol.

and coming tomorrow 21st july is racial harmony day! hehes. its been AGES since i last celebrated that festival. so its nice working with kids right? you get to revive childhood. haha. and get plenty of hugs from the little kids! hehes.

and i misss my dearest baby. the only one deep in my heart. x)

Life as Teacher Shirley begins at Town for Kids, the childcare center i am currently working in. Its located at the 3rd level of Jurong East Sports Complex. which is pretty near my house. (:

The first 2 days has been really fun and interesting. time passes really fast there cause you are constantly busy on the look-out for the little ones. plus the class im taking consists of the nursery 1 kids which are only 2-3 years old. hehes. superrr cute i must say.

i still feel rather new as there are sooo much for me to pick up in the short period of time. the first one would be the names of all the kids in my class and around the center. next remember all the rules and reguations of the center. followed by the names of the teachers, what roles they are in charge of and the kids timetable daily. on top of that to be specific, remember their water bottle, their milk bottle, school bag, sleeping habits (need to pat them to sleep or not), who to change dipers for or who is under going toilet training and the list goes on......

theres lots of unpredictable things that will happen in work. so many a times we always have to be focus on the kids and be by their side all the time. plus juggling the different task on hand and the stuff to look out for. for this bunch of kids at this age, they are undergoing toilet training and drinking milk training so that they will not always rely on milk bottles. plus, they are also learning how to talk and read properly and learning how to write. haha.

and sometimes they just make you feel like a kid again.
the smile on their faces are the reason for me to be there day after day.;
and that the reason why i love my job! ((:

suddenly i missed my school days, my friends from polytechnic; sec school and also school life. ):

anyways, last weekend past by working hard during the latest pc show with clyon interactive. and i must say, this is probably my 3rd year there? haha. and i saw changes within the welfare. haha. things have indeed improved for the better as compared to the very first time i worked there. like in the past we used to have to get our own dinner and pay for it but now, dinner's provided for us! hahah. well, pay's much better tooo. but thats not the reason why i went back but rather, i went back for the relationship and the people there.

on top of that, i got great buys! hahah. now, im a proud owner of a PINK external harddisk. its like super sweet and delicious looking pink. 320GB @ $179. hehehs.

pink is my loveeees. hahah.

its been years but still i love eating those san-cha snacks. the cute cute brown little slices of flakes that tastes sweet and all. it always makes me happy. and when i eat it, i like nibbling at it and savouring the sweet sweet taste. hehes.

may, june, july, the few of the most busiest months where everything starts happening at once. but this time round, minusing school work and tests. lol. now its all about work work work. but work is fun. well, most of the time only. however, one bad thing is that, i dont really get to see the money coming in from work... roarrrr. probably because clients are not paying us on time, thus no moneyyy...

however surprisingly, after being a videographer for many weddings through the months, just 2 days ago was the first time i ever met someone i know there. imagine, at each wedding you get to meet like tons of people. but last 2 days i finally met one of the bride's sisters (jie-mei) who happens to be my sec school friend! lol. and we chatted and stuff, making the wedding really interesting and fun. at least there was someone to talk to when you are feeling stoney. lol.

and i love the colour on this flower! (:

tomorrow's going to be a special day i look forward toooo. and sadly thats one of the 2nd last before july 10 comes. ):
so its going to be sweet and fun and definitely one i will treasure...

weeees, last week finally met up with jen to go vivo to catch up on our life! even though we haven met each other for like months, we still had plenty to chat and catch up about in life. haha. and catching up with friends like girls night out is good for the soul and it makes me happy. we went to kim gary hk eatery in vivo for our dinner and it was a simple but nice dinner fare. prices were affordable too! ohhh, they serve good french toast too (the picture with the generous serving of honey and butter!). hehe. yummm~

besides that, both of us decide to pamper ourselves with a little pedicure. (: it was our first time there and its indeed a wonderful experience. no wonder it is the loves of many many girls out there. haha. we went for the full pedicure package and had them soaking our legs, scrubbing them, massaging them and not forgetting removing dead skins and stuff. super heavenly feeling just sitting there, chit chatting and enjoying the moment of being pampered. haha. i had a hard time deciding what colour i should choose on my first time there. furthermore because of my tan, lighter colours look weird, and shiny colours look normal. in the end, i stuck to dark maroon colour. lol. and jen choose a lighter shade of reddish brown to suit her fair skin colour. haha.
it will definitely not be my last time there. haha.

it was a good experience and even better to share it with my girl friend! hehes. ((:

***

Last weekend i went down to tent@orchard for Singapore Fashion Week. it was like walking into Singapore's version of Upper East Side with the Rich and famous. lol! the Little Runway had little kids models that were so cute. (: and to see such a big event was such a nice experience. imagine an event that gives out free flow of evian water and haggen daz ice cream. hahaha.

hopefully there will be more shows and stuff to gain more experience in time to come! (:
